In the summer of 2008 a Hope Communications team traveled through several cities in Bulgaria to capture the lives and culture of Bulgarians. The group ventured from the capital of Sofia through the Rhodope Mountains in the south to Plovdiv, Smolyan and Batak. They saw history in ruins of the Roman empire and evidence of the harsh Ottoman occupation, as well as new growth in the urban areas and resort towns. A mixture of the Eastern Orthodox Church and Islam also exists in Bulgaria.
